Description A black and white photograph of the interior of Shobdon Court with a fireplace with caryatids,a mantelshelf with a monster and a large oil painting with a plaque reading 'Lecomte du Nouy'. The portrait is 'A portrait of Lady Bateman' (1902) by French painter Jean-Jules-Antoine Lecomte du Nouÿ (1842-1923). The photograph shows the main hall created in c.1850 and demolished in 1933 (Source David Whitehead). See also G36-218-06 and 218-02 in Bustin Views.
