Title Portrait of Queen Elizabeth I
Description A black and white photograph of a framed portrait of an Queen Elizabeth I wearing stiff lace collars and a bejewelled dress. Supposedly painted by Jodocus Hondius (1563-1612), the painting was kept at Newcourt, Bacton, Herefordshire, the residence of Queen Elizabeth I's personal attendant Blanche Parry. In the 1860s, the painting was sold, and was photographed for Walter Pilley in 1886. It was sold again in the 1908 auction of the Jenkins' Collection, where it was sold to a descendant of the Parry family. It was thought to be missing until 2017, when it was discovered to be in a private collection in America.
