Frank Lewis

Images of Pte Frank Lewis in hospital uniform, known as 'convalescent blues': a single-breasted jacket with a white lining owrn open at the neck, blue trousers, a white shirt and a red tie. Frank is wearing his own khaki service cap and a Welsh Fusiliers cap badge.

The armband on Frank's right arm was colour coded to indicate his stage of recovery. White armbands were for those most ill; pink for those with one to six months of recuperation to do; light blue for those with less than a month of recovery remaining. Those 'practically well' wore dark blue. As Frank was able to pose for portrait it is likely his armband is either light or dark blue.

Also included are images of some of Frank's possessions from the period.
