Title A nun from the Poor Clares spins wool in her cell
Description Nun from the Poor Clares at Bullingham spins wool in her cell. That was the sort of sleeping arrangement they had in their cells at Bullingham. They didn’t sleep in beds, but something a bit like an arm chair and it was as hard as nails. You can see a little bit of it in the photo. Their lives were very austere. When they were at Bullingham, sometimes they had to ring the bell to alert neighbours/well wishers to the fact that they didn’t have any food.
