The Big March Past

The exuberant VE Day celebrations in Hereford were preceded by a more formal civic acknowledgement of the debt owed to Britain's armed forces. The Mayor and his entourage took to the dais that would later accommodate the silver band, to receive the salute of representatives from all the services. Tony Williams, from his vantage point opposite the entrance to Church Street, caught every moment of what must have been a truly stirring occasion.

We are grateful to Derek Foxton for letting us use his digitised copies of these historic images.
