Title | Group of 8 uniformed soldiers |
---|---|
Description |
A black and white photograph of a group of 8 uniformed soldiers dressed in Glengarries with the collar badge of the Cheshires (?) with cuff bands “RP”, white belts and hobnailed boots. They all have different sticks. One soldier has sergeant’s stripes and a cross sash, next to him an older soldier has five reversed chevrons on his right forearm. This shows 23 years good conduct. Glengarries were introduced in 1868 and good conduct stripes on the right arm ceased in 1881. The group is shown inside a barrack wall with an aiming point painted on it and houses behind. |
