Description |
An entry in the Ledbury Carnival August 1946 taken in New Street Ledbury. You can see signs for Philip Thomas radio supplies, J.E Baker Boot & Shoe Repairer and Bebbington printer. Locals and people from outlying areas used to bring their accumulators (rechargeable acid batteries for valve radios) in on the bus to Philip Thomas Ledbury to get it charged for the week which cost 6d a time - they had to hide them because accumulators were not allowed on buses From Paul Carter photographer’s collection, colourised by Laura Carter Illustrator |
