---|---|
Description | A black and white photograph of a Flight Lieutenant of the Royal Air Force. He is wearing a uniform jacket with pilot's insignia and a row of medal ribbons, also breeches and riding boots. The insignia above the rank braid is a small crown above an eagle (not albatross, the Air Ministry Orders of that time were quite specific about the bird's description). The uniform the RAF officer wears is a fist pattern introduced upon the RAF's formation and is Khaki in colour (not blue as usually associated with the RAF) (Source:Britairforce.com). He is leaning against the backcloth of a panelled room which appears in many later Bustin portraits. |
