The Rev. H. E. H. Probyn asked whether any arrangements had been made for the provision a weighing machine at Messrs . Jackson and Me- Cartney's sale yard . The present grading arrange- ments were very unsatisfactory . After some discus- sion the following resolution was carried on the proposal of Mr. Roper , seconded by Mr. Grifiths : " That in the opinion of this Council the present system of grading animals , particularly sheep , is unsatisfactory and unfair and in this district as no difficulties need arise as to identification the only satisfactory solution is to sell by dead weight and they urge the responsible Authorities to adopt this course without delay . " The Clerk was instructed
to bring this resolution to the notice of the Food Control Committee , and the Divisional Food Com- missioner . It was further resolved that in the event of 10 arrangements being come to for the sale of meat by weight that the Clerk should make enquiries as to whether the Commissioners propose to install a weighing machine at the Sale Yard and how soon this would be done . A General District Rate of 1s . 4d . in the on houses and buildings and 8d . on land for the ensuing half year was recommenced .

A witness named Morris , called by the defence , stated that defendant's castle returned to their . he got house on the night of the sale , but as obviously mixed between the two lots of cattle , on two different occasions , the Judge said he could not rely on this witness's evidence .
In giving judgment for plaintiff , his Honour said defendant admitted that five of his cattle were missing from that market , and the plaintiff found five cattle in his orchard next morning . From the evidence of the police there were only two lots of missing cattle that week , and as the other , lot was accounted for , he was driven to the conclusion that the trespassing cattle belonged to defendant , and he gave judgment for plaintiff for damages with
