TRACTOR RESULTS . A NEW RECORD . Variable weather last week again interfered in some places with tractor ploughing , but in spite of this numerous good results are re- ported . A new record for ploughing by Gov- ernment tractors has been created in Lanca- shire , where a tractor drawing a three - furrow Ransome plough did 52 acres during the week ended February 23rd . No special provision ' was made for record breaking , and a 10 - mile road journey intervened between the two farms on which the work was performed . The ploughing , the greater part of which was 8 inches deep , was performed to the entire satis- faction of the farmers , and a creditable feature of the performance is the exceptionally low consumption , namely 2.54 gallons per acre . The following table showing the work of this tractor during the past four weeks is interest- ing.- Week ending . دو Paraffin 103 gallons 72 Jank 25th Acres . 27 Feb. 1st 26 8th 17 66 15th 19 60 3 22nd 52 133 142 434 وو A tractor in Buckinghamshire ploughed 5 counted for 24 acres in 60 hours . acres in one day , whilst one in Cambridge ac- The fuel consumption for 15 acres ploughed by a tractor in Hampshire only 35 gallons ject to Conditions of Sale , a well - built and per acre . of low fuel consumption is convenient Brick DWELLING - HOUSE , with also reported from Oxfordshire , where a trac- slate roof , being No. 145 , Bargates , Leominster , tor used only 3.27 gallons per acre to plough 29 and known as " WESTGATE VILLA , " with acres . No other suitable fields being available at the moment the men were unable to complete the British record . They had reached 35 acres in effort . The Market Rasen unit in the Lindsey divi- sion of Lincoln still heads the list for the county for the greatest number of acres ploughed . It accounted for 82 acres during the last week on a fuel consumption of 4.6 gallons per acre . In Middlesex is 61 hours a tractor ploughed 28 acres of heavy derelict land , on which there was a long tough growth of grass . The best result in Norfolk was obtained by a tractor that , working 60 hours on two horse land , ploughed 36 acres , consuming 132 gallons of paraffin an average consumption of 3.6 gullons per acre and an output of 0.6 acres per hour . of not pistinguished itself in the matter of tractor ploughing so far , partly be cause of weather difficulties . However , lately some of the Welsh figures have shown consider- able improvement , and the latest return from Denbigh shows an average of 12 acres per one tractor doing 16 acers .
