John Davies , timber haulier ; William layer , all of Eardisley , were summoned for Beavan , signalman ; and John Brooks , plate- committing a trespass by entering upon land at Eardisley in search of conies . All the defendants pleaded not guilty . Alfred Coleman said he resided at Eardisley and was gamekeeper for Mr. Curzon Herrick . On Sunday , the 11th February , at half - past occupation of Mr. Griffiths , belonging to Mr. two in the afternoon , he was on land in the Herrick , at Eardisley . He saw the three de- fendants on land in the occupation of Mr. Griffiths , with three dogs , one a lurcher . There was a footpath through the land but they were off the footpath when he saw them first . He saw the one dog course a rabbit into a bury . Witness went to them and told them he should summon them for trespass , and they said they were on the footpath and had not done anything wrong . He watched them beating all over the place for half an hour . Each of the defendants gave evidence and denied that they were trespassing in pursuit of game . They were on the footpath when the keeper met them and the dogs were under control . They denied that the dogs had been hunting the hedges or that they had coursed a rabbit . After retiring the Bench said there was a conflict of evidence and the cases would be dismissed . KINGTON RED CROSS HOSPITAL . J. A.
