We had very little loss of life , though our task was rather hard to face . I am very pleased to say that we have now got the Germans on the Hove . I am sure the news you have re- ceived has been very good indeed just lately and will be still better as the days go on . feel quite confident that we have them beaten and that the war cannot last much longer . We have driven them nearly four miles in two days from a position they had held for two years , and the number of prisoners and guns we captured was very great . I was told by our Company Sergeant - Major that I have been recommended for the Military Medal . nothing much , but still it is a little honour if It is I get it .
