| Description | Black and white photograph of Bishop John Percival following Bateman; his butler and Mace Bearer and Canon Williams. Bishop John was in post 1895-1917, against the Queens wishes. Born in Westmorland, educated at Oxford with a fellowship. Once ordained, he taught at Rugby and was later the first headmaster of Clifton College. He was a liberal and not popular with the Government. He is buried in the chapel crypt at Clifton College. |
