| Title | Nurse of the Red Cross, holding a scroll |
|---|---|
| Description |
A black and white photograph of a seated Red Cross VAD nurse. She is dressed in stiff collar, cuffs and cap and a large white apron, she has two efficiency stripes on her right sleeve, black patterned stockings and lace up shoes. She is leaning her elbow on a cast iron occasional table with a backdrop of a panelled room. Efficiency stripes were introduced in autumn 1917 and involved the nurse being certificated as efficient so this may explain the scroll she is holding. |
