Black and white photograph showing children playing in a sandpit. The caption is "THE SANDPIT". In the accompanying article headed "ROSS KIDDIES' PLAYGROUND" the management committee were appealing for further public subscriptions to maintain the playground. Behind the Dutch barn in the cattle market is the raised bank of the railway line and beyond that is a row of terraced houses. These are "Cawdor Gardens". CHILDREN IDENTIFIED IN THE PHOTOGRAPH The girl sat in the sand on the left nearest to the edge boarding has been identified by her son (Steve Zimmermann) as AUDREY ANNE GIBBONS.
