Description |
Black and white photograph showing a young boy with a painted face and dressed in a clown fancy dress costume. He is guiding a small metal loop attached to a handle along a length of wire bent into a wavy line which is connected to an"Every Ready" brand battery. The accompanying article is on a different page (page 5) and headed "Tarzan and Jane muscle in among the prizes". The event is a "Holiday Event" organised by the Friends of the Chestnuts in the grounds of The Chase Hotel. Proceeds from the event were for The Chestnuts Care Home. The young boy is Michael Kearney who probably took part in the event's children's fancy dress competition. He is playing a game of skill the objective of which is to guide the loop around the curves The loop is wired so that if it touches the wire a bell or buzzer will sound. The Chestnuts Care Home was located in The Avenue. It closed in 2011. |
