Black and white photograph showing a gathering of eight women and three men. A majority are holding pieces of paper. A woman on the far left, is holding a small open box containing an object depicting a poppy. Standing at the back is a distinguished grey-haired man wearing a pin-stripe jacket with a Royal British Legion badge on the lapel and a tie with a Royal British Legion motif design running in a line down the centre. The occasion is a coffee evening held at St. Mary's Hall at which Colonel J. F. Maclean presented awards to Poppy sellers in recognition of their service to the Royal British Legion. The recipients are named together with the number of years service (in brackets) as: Front row, left to right Mrs M. Parry (15 years) Mrs. J. H. Edwards (10 years) Mrs. M. E. ---gent (10 years) Mrs. G. M-nton (10 years) Mrs. L. Bryant (10 years) Mr. C. L. Burrows (10 years) Mr. A. Baynham (15 years) Back row, left to right Mrs. E. M. Irish (10 years) Mrs. M. Richards (15 years) Mrs. F. Gwatkin (15 years) Colonel Maclean Those with 15 years service or over received a brooch or tiepin and those with 10 years sevice or over received a certificate. Mrs. Parry (front row, far left) appears to have received both a brooch and certificate. |
