The accompanying article is headed "GOODRICH IN HAIG SEMI-FINAL" In a third round match of the Haig National Village Championship, Goodrich Cricket Club beat Duntisbourne Abbotts to reach the divisional semi-finals of the competition. In the article, the reporter has named the competition as the "Village Cup". Interestingly, from its conception in 1972 up to 2003 it was known as the "National Village Championship" and the "Village Cup" title was not adopted until 2004 when the sponsorship was taken over by energy company npower and it became the "npower Village Cup". |
