    Description: Black and white photograph of a published article about the Right Reverend James Atlay and his recent consecration as Bishop of Hereford. It was published July 23rd, 1869. The picture is an engraving from a photograph by John Watkins, London. James was born on 3rd July, 1817 at Wakerley, Northants. He was ordained in 1843, appointed vicar in Leeds 1859 and also married that year. He became Bishop of Hereford in 1869 and served for 25 years. He died on 24th December, 1894 and was buried in the Lady Arbour outside the Cathedral.
