A colour photograph! A procession for a royal visit to Hereford. The marchers include Girl Guides, police officers, ambulance staff and nurses. As evidenced by the placard the visiting royal was the queen and the visit can thus be dated to 24th April 1957.

The specialist school for deaf children was privately funded and founded in the mid-Victorian mansion in 1944. It closed shortly after Derek Evans took this series of photographs.
