    Type: Manuscript

    Date Published: 1 May 1945

    Type: Manuscript

    Date Published: 1 May 1945

    Type: Manuscript

    Date Published: 23 April 1945

    Date Published: 17 April 1945

Description: File copy letter to Rev SG Chance, vicar of All Saints, Hereford, requesting that the bells of All Saints church should be rung to celebrate victory in Europe. Prior warning was certainly necessary as church bells had been silenced for the duration of the war. The uncertainty over the end of hostilities is clear, but it was at least a matter of 'when' rather than 'if'.
