In the front row is a soldier from the Hereford Regiment with a service dress cap and displaying Overseas Service Chevrons which were not introduced until 1918. There are also two sailors with the hat tally of 'HMS Gorgon'. One on the left is showing a crossed torpedoes badge on his right sleeve, the sailor on the right is in number 1 dress. The setting is outdoors in a garden, and the plate the image is on is cracked.
