    Description: A black and white photograph of a large group of munitions workers posed on a railway footbridge, presumably the railway serving the Rotherwas National Filling Factory (NFF No14, Hereford). Most are female, dressed in knee length overalls of different styles and uniform trousers with mob caps. One is wearing a mourning arm band. The very few men are in civilian clothing. Railway signals and some track-side sheds can be seen in the background.

    Description: A black and white photograph of the interior of a long low shed roofed in corrugated iron. The centre of the shed is equipped with water taps and a rough wooden bench and ten men are preparing to wash in enamel basins. They are civilians, wearing waistcoats, collarless shirts and mufflers. There is a man supervising them dressed in a non-military uniform consisting of a peaked cap, unbuttoned jacket with epaulettes and a collar insignia, breeches and boots. He appears in several National Filling Factory Rotherwas photographs.

    Description: A black and white informally posed photograph. The soldiers are all in pill box hats. Most wear tunics with elaborate raised braiding on the sleeves and frogging and toggle fastenings on the chest. Two are wearing very short fitted tunics with a white shoulder sash and may be gunners from a visiting regiment. Most appear to wear leather gaiters. The civilians’ clothing and headgear including a Norfolk jacket suggest the 1890s and the setting is in the English countryside.

He is leaning on a cane and holding gloves in his right hand and in his left holding a cigar.

    Description: A black and white photograph of hoisting a telegraph pole near Castle Street, Hereford, with the Cathedral and Hereford Cathedral School in the background. The workmen with foremen in bowler hats are using a winch on the shorter pole and are being assisted by soldiers. Local residents have come out to see the event and there are even some young women who have climbed a ladder to sit on an outhouse roof.
