He is standing beside a balustrade with a small flight of steps and a backdrop behind him. The photograph would seem to be a copy made by Bustin Studios of a postcard as it is inscribed "American Galleries Kimmel Park Nr Rhyl". Kinmel Park Camp was built in 1915 as a training camp for Lord Kitchener’s Army, near Rhyl, Wales.
