Description:
A black and white photograph of a large group of schoolboys in military uniforms, khaki tunics and slouch hats. some have shoulder flash HF1, others Hereford 1V. Several have rifles. In the centre are three officers of the Herefordshire Regiment and a regimental quartermaster-sergeant in the uniform of a different regiment, possibly an ex-regular soldier acting as Permanent Staff Instructor. The only schools in Herefordshire with OTCs were Hereford Cathedral School and Lucton School.

A black and white photograph of a seated Red Cross VAD nurse. She is dressed in stiff collar, cuffs and cap and a large white apron, she has two efficiency stripes on her right sleeve, black patterned stockings and lace up shoes. She is leaning her elbow on a cast iron occasional table with a backdrop of a panelled room. Efficiency stripes were introduced in autumn 1917 and involved the nurse being certificated as efficient so this may explain the scroll she is holding.
