In the article, Susan Waythe is credited with playing the part of "Alfred" who is actually a horse. Ross Gazette, December 11, page 5 A review of the play appeared the following week in an article headed "TOAD OF TOAD HALL SPARKLED". It gives the names of all the supporting cast, but not the characters they played.

Wells (manager of the Whitchurch Nurseries) All the boxes, barring Mrs. Farley's, contained gold watches. She received a sliver dish.
