The address reads:
'We your Father's Tradesmen of the City of Hereford beg to offer your our most sincere Congratulations upon the important event of your attaining your Majority.
We also ask your acceptance of the accompanying Piece of Plate as a mark of the kindly feeling we desire to express toward yourself and your worthy parents on this happy occasion.
We earnestly wish you a long and happy life, and pray that under God's blessing health and strength may be given to you, and that your future career may fully justify the expectations of those near and dear to you.'
