Description:
This December 1945 edition of the Hereford Citizen and Bulletin, like other local newspapers, did not dwell on the significance of the first peace time Christmas for six years. The front page is, nonetheless, filled with indirect references to the conflict and its aftermath from the continued lack of bananas to the role of locally stationed troops in the Mayor's Christmas party. Between the lines, there is a sense of a community getting on with things and looking to the future with renewed hope.
