He is wearing a tunic with a stand up collar with a metallic shoulder title spelling 'CANADA' and collar badges bearing the Maple Leaf. On the left sleeve is a single Good Conduct chevron and on the right forearm he wears four 'Chevrons for Overseas Service' indicating four years of service. These commenced to be worn around June/July 1918.

    Description: A black and white photograph of a colour party in full dress. Soldiers have insignia of Herefordshire Regiment and wear spiked helmets, The King’s colour on the left and the Regimental colour on the right are carried by subalterns. The two Colours are escorted by Senior NCOs equipped with Lee Enfield rifles, with bayonets. The one in the centre has two medals one with two bars and a trade badge suggesting he is a Regimental Signal Instructor. A small part of the plate has been cracked off in the bottom left corner. The location is the Barracks, Harold St, Hereford. This photograph is identical to G36-316-03 except that the background detail seems sharper.

    Description: A black and white photograph of the Herefordshire Regiment Colour Party about to enter the West door of Hereford Cathedral. This was the occasion of the laying up of the Colours for safe keeping by the Herefordshire Territorials. An account of this with names of those involved appeared in the Hereford Times of 22nd August 1914.
