    Description: A black and white photograph of a group of soldiers of the yeomanry at camp. They are mostly in shirt sleeves but wearing pill box caps. They are shoeing horses and a Sergeant Major is holding the heads of two horses. They are using a mobile forge but this is partly obscured. The landscape could be New Forest Farm, Hay-on-Wye. See also G36-413-17 and G36-325-08.

    Description: A black and white photograph of a tented encampment. This has been taken from a distance and men are seen lounging on the grass and tending the considerable number of horses. The men are mainly in shirtsleeves and wearing pillbox hats. The landscape could be New Forest Farm, Hay on Wye. See also G36-413-17 and G36-325-08.

    Description: Black and white photograph of seated lieutenant with a white cap and badge of the South Staffordshire Regiment. The white cap cover and tunic with Prussian collar was optional summer wear for all regiments (Source :Great War Forum). He also wears cavalry trousers, boots, spurs. He is holding leather gloves and a whip and is seated on an upright domestic chair with a studio backdrop. Subject appears in civilian clothes in G36-297-01.

    Description: Black and white photograph of young officer in dress uniform sat awkwardly on a bentwood chair. He has a helmet, gloves and sword and is wearing cavalry trousers and boots. His collar badge is the insignia of the Gloucestershire Regiment. Almost concealed behind the chair is the base of a neck clamp used to keep a subject still during a long photographic exposure. There is also some mirror writing at the foot of the plate.

    Description: Black and white photograph of two bandsmen photographed out of doors. Drummer A.S Field (L) was aged 17 and Drummer A. Field(R) 15 of Drybridge Villa, St Martins, Hereford. They are wearing dress uniforms and service caps with the badge of the South Wales Borderers. Both carry sticks and one has a Good Conduct stripe on the left sleeve. This photograph appeared in Hereford Times of 31st October 1914 when the A.S. Field was wounded at the front.

    Description: A black and white photograph of a Senior NCO. He wears an undress frock with chain mail epaulettes and a medal ribbon. The three chevrons surmounted by a crown on his sleeve suggest a Company Quartermaster Sergeant and the loggerhead badge on the stripes is the Shropshire Yeomanry insignia. He is seated in a wicker char outside a bell tent with a camp of more tents behind and holding a bottle of whisky marked “Perfection“ and there are further bottles both opened and empty on the ground to his left, some in a wooden crate. To his left is an enamel basin on a tripod.

    Description: A half-length black and white studio photograph of a second lieutenant seated. His tunic has the collar dogs of the Herefordshire Regiment and his service dress cap bears the Arms of the City of Hereford. He is wearing a Sam Browne belt and leather gloves and has a sword at his side. It can be dated from the high collar of the tunic.
