His practice was at Hereford Dispensary and continued for 40 years. He married Elizabeth Read and had four sons and four daughters. He was very active in the city improving the facilities of health and education.

    Description: Black and white photograph of Francis Brett Young at Craigcombe House. He was born in Halesowen and trained to be a physician. During the First World War he served in East Africa. After being discharged he lived on Capri with his wife, where he began writing. His first novel was published in 1915. He went to live in the Lake District and continued to write. After the Second World War he went to South Africa and remained until his death. His ashes were returned to Worcester.
