Col‘s stand~up career grew
out of working as a teacher,
something he trained to do
in a bid to overcome a fear
of speaking in public. “ljust

"I did my first stand-up gig
two and a half years ago -I
contacted the organisers of
a comedy club in Cardiff
called Drones and they gave
me a date two months away.
but it went really well and I
enjoyed it. One of the other

DISCOED sees the return of four
international early music mu-
sicians, collectively known as
Charme du Hautbois, performing
a concert of music for oboe, bas-
soon, viola da gamba and harpsi-
chord on Saturday, February 6.
The concert in St Michaels
Church focuses on English reper-
toire from the Galante era - with
works by Mozart and JC Bach
alongside those of the leading per-
formers of 18th century London
such as Fischer and Lid].
The evening is a rare opportu-
nity to hear the rich and varied
colours of a wide selection of
unusual and thrilling repertoire
played by four highly skilled and
exciting musicians.
