Mr Morley with Alex Wright (the oldest) and Jacob Denslow (t
‘4»! FIG
he youngest) members of the Burghill Community Academy
. Thousands
raised to
buy play
equipment
A SERIES of fundraising triumphs
have resulted in a very positive out-
come at Burghill Community
Academy.
A wooden fort climbing frame with-
in the children’s playground had
deteriorated to a point where it was
starting to fall apart. Deemed to be
no longer safe for use, it was disman-
tled in October, 2015, and the rotten
wood was used to form part of the
local bonfire and fireworks night
held at Tillington Court Farm.
This left very little for the children
to play with in their top playground
and so a series of fundraising activi-
ties were undertaken to raise the
funds to build something new.
Parent, teachers and the friends
association (PTFA) raised thou—
sands of pounds and were able to
provide new play equipment for the
school. Fundraising events held
included car boot sales, discos, bag
packing, Christmas and Easter fairs,
Easter egg hunts, movie nights and
the Crocodile 8 run.
On January 15, the whole school,
along with teachers and some par-
ents, watched the official opening of
the trim trail assault course, which
is proving to be a real hit with all of
the children.

people living alone and those with
reduced mobility the service
offers a free of charge fire safety
check in the home. As its name
suggests, a Home Fire Safety
Check involves representatives
from Hereford and Worcester Fire
and Rescue Service calling by at
your home to offer safety advice
specific to your household and
personal circumstances. During
the visit, they will check your
smoke alarms and install new
ones if needed and will ensure
that you are doing all that you can
to avoid the risk of a fire in your
home. They will also help to work
out an escape plan in the event of
fire.
The Fire and Rescue service urges
anyone who might be vulnerable
themselves or who knows an
elderly family member, friend or
neighbour who lives on their own
or has reduced mobility and who
might benefit from a visit to get in
touch using the number below
and request one on their behalf.
