have their voices heard and
nominated the winners of
the 2015 Herefordshire Carers
Support GP and GP Practice
awards.
The winners were announced
at the Herefordshire Carers
Support Carers Rights Day.
The Carers GP Practice of
the year was announced as
Weobley &amp; Staunton Surgeries
while The Marches Surgery,
Leominster, and Westfields

The winning Carers GP for
2015 voted for by carers was
Dr Rachel Penney of Weobley
&amp; Staunton Surgeries while Dr
Crispen Fisher of The March-
es, Leominster, picked up a
highly commended award.
The award judges, in a state-
ment, said: “These awards
not only allow carers to voice
their feelings and share their
experiences through their
nominations, but are helpful
in raising awareness of good
practice and in encouraging
GPs and their practices to look
at ways to improve the support
they offer to family carers.”

Youth club aim to help members
understand healthy eating habits
A YOUTH club in Hereford is
aiming to teach its users more
about healthy eating after re-
ceiving a £1,000 grant.
Close House will use the Red
Cup Grant money to extended
the opening hours of its city
centre premises and provide
food preparation workshops
for its users.
The Red Cup was a nation-
wide competition to help local
charities as part of a Star-
bucks and Neighbourly char-
ity initiative.
The youth club’s project fo-
cuses on including young
people in the planning and
preparation of meals, as well
as eating together and clear-
ing up.
