Refugee help
A GROUP in Ross—on-Wye set up in
response to the ongoing migrant cri-
sis has returned to France to lend
their support.
The Ross for Refugees team went
back to Dunkirk to build a much—
needed shelter in the migrant camp.
The team has pledged to continue
raising more funds to fund building
shelters and would like to encourage
people to set up a monthly donation.
Further trips to France are planned
for late January and February with
dates to be continued.
Having raised almost 523.000, the
volunteers are now concentrating on
collecting food rather than clothes
which can be left at the Globetrotter
Gate in Broad Street. Rosson—Wye
from Tuesdays to Saturdays.

Festive carols
PUPlLS from Blackmarston School
helped Hereford raised 2227 by sing—
ing carols in the city centre.
Fifteen students irom the special
educational needs school sang for
an hour outside Specsavers in
Mag/lord Street
The store has supported the school

raise money for a new sensory room.
“We were thrilled to have the chil-
dren and sing outside the store," said
store director Nialle Smith.
“it created a really festive atmos-
phere in the store and all our custom
ers seemed to enjoy it with some
even joining in.”
. Specsavers staff also helped out
those on the children's ward at
Hereford County Hospital when they
donated presents to young patients.

A LEOMINSTER man
has been spreading his
goodwill this nutter as
he travels around the
counny to give out sup-
plies to homeless people
Deano Granger along
with his ten- year old son
Harry. have been tak-
ing food. drinks. warm
clothes and sleeping
bags to homeless people.
For the pasr five years
Mr Granger has put
aside around £400 for
supplies and fuel for his
Landrover Defender.
He then drives to cit-
ies and cooks basic food
for homeless people and
gives them other sup-
plies such as clothes and
sleeping bags.
And for the first time
this year he put an ap-
peal on Facebook for do-
nations.
The 42—year-old said: “I
would like to thank the

Last week he went to
Hereford, Worcester
and Birmingham and
this week he is going to
Manchester, Blackpool,
Liverpool and Cardiff.
He also intends to go to
Shrewsbury, London,
Derby, Nottingham and
Sheffield.
Mr Granger said: “I
have always tried to do
my best for people. I am
a property developer
and I house people all of
the time I feel that re-
ally I want to be able to
give something back.
“There are people out
there who aren’t lucky
enough to have a roof
over their head.”
He has received so
many donations that he
has decided to keep on
travelling to cities until
the supplies run out.
Mr Granger added: “It
goes to show the level of
power when a commu-
nity can pull together.”
