Tales of love, loss and danger
THE Dev il's Violin has been
breathing new life into the
ancient art of storytelling since
2006. Thanks to funding from
the Arts Councils of England
and Wales, and PRS Foundation
funding they are back with The
Forbidden Door
Storyteller Dominic Kelly
(right) tells the ancient folk
tales of the people who refused
to heed the instruction ‘Do not
open’, Whether a forbidden door
or a box that cannot be resisted,
or a page that must not be
turned. But such an injunction
will invariably prove futile, the
promise of uncovering a secret
irresistible, even knowing that
the consequences could be dire
and dangerous. Expect love,
loss, drama, danger, horror,
humour, twists and trials.
Kelly's dynamic storytelling is
accompanied by fiddler Oliver
Wilson-Dickson, cellist Sarah
Moody and Dylan Fowler on
guitar who provide the per—
fect musical counterpoint,
creating an atmosphere of
menace, humour and a fris-
son of excitement.
