Karl James Yapp, 24, of St Guthlac Street, Portfields, Hereford, pleaded guilty to affray and possessing a large kitchen knife af- ter an argument in South Street on November 7. .. Mark Soper, prosecuting at Hereford Magistrates’ Court last Thursday, said that Yapp was Visiting a friend in Leominster at the time of the offence when he went into a fast food outlet on West Street before having an argu- ment with somebody in the takeaway. Mr Soper said: “That per- son deliberately bumped into Yapp as he was leav- ing the shop causing his food to fall on the floor. “This caused him to lose his temper and take off his shirt while the other person went ‘into a club. “Shortly afterwards there was a large distur- bance involving between 20 and 30 people and Yapp was the most aggressive.” Yapp returned to an old home of his on South Street before heading back outside with a kitch- en knife. Philip Cornel, mitigating, said Yapp was in a kebab shop 75 yards from where he previously lived when the argument started. Mr Cornel said: “A door supervisor at Sparky’s Bar near to the kebab shop said that at around 2.30am eve— rybody started leaving. “There appeared no prob- lem until Yapp started be- ing aggressive. Between 15 and 20 people started try- ing to provoke the shirtless man and following him in South Street. “Yapp went into his house and got a bread knife be- fore standing on the pave» ment using it to warn them stating ‘don‘t you dare’.” Magistrates adjourned the case to be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court later this month.
