The library was first closed
in September when traces of
asbestos were found.
A statement was released at
that time saying the library
would be back open in 12
weeks but the centre has re-
mained shut to this day with
a temporary facility set up in
Hereford Town Hall.
Talented
A HEREFORDSHIRE firm has
featured in award~winning
work by two Hereford College
of Arts students.
Photography students Ben
Winder and Nathon Milisic
worked on projects with the
S&A Group with Ben, who
graduated in June, winning
the Lugg Valley Community
Engagement Award for his
documentary project follow-
ing the community of the
company‘s seasonal workers.
Nathon, who is now in the fi-
nal year of his degree course,
worked on an editorial por-
trait project; he photographed
the workers and interviewed
them, where they talked can-
didly about their hopes and
aspirations.
S&A, one of the UK’s leading
soft fruit and asparagus grow-
ers, have been so pleased with
the results of the co-operation
students impress
that they now intend to invite
more HCA students to their
farms to work on film and pho-
tography projects.
“The two students visited the
farm early in the morning,
during evenings and at the
weekend so that they could
capture images of all aspects
of life at S&A,” said Peter
Holder, HR manager at S&A.
“They showed enormous
dedication to their work and
interacted brilliantly with
everyone at S&A to create two
fascinating photography exhi-
bitions that staff and visitors.
to the farm have been very im-
pressed with.”
“Partnerships like this are
incredibly beneficial to our
students, and fantastic for
the college,” said HCA’s Alex
Thimm.

A MAN was thrown out of a

coming abusive towards police,
Dalton Thomas pleaded guilty
to being drunk and disorderly
in a public place at Hereford
Magistrates’ Court last week.
Adrian Jones, prosecuting,
said it was at 2.30am on Decem-

_l_
door staff at The Venue in Gaol
Street that they Were having
difficulties with Thomas.
Thomas had been thrown out
of the nightclub but refused to
leave and had been poking door
staff in the chest.
Mr Jones said police told
Thomas to leave but he became
abusive and was arrested.
Thomas, 23, from Huntsman
Drive, Kings Acre, Hereford,
said his friend had been thrown
out of the club and he was ask-
mg the door staff why this was.
He said a member of door staff
put his hands on his throat and
put him against the wall.
Thomas was given a six-month
conditional discharge and was
