Council challenged in
bid to save bus so vices
A ROSS-on-Wye man who
has launched a campaign
to save the county's rural
bus services has challenged
councillors to use the trans-
port for a month before de-
ciding on its future,
Jordan Creed, 23, decided
last month to do his bit to
raise awareness about the
importance of Hereford
sh ire's under-threat buses.
He has launched a petition
asking Herefordshire Coun‘
oil to ensure it does not cut
its bus subsidy completely
as such action would result
in the isolation of many
people in the county.
Mr Creed said: “Hereford
shire has already been at
i‘ected by the reduction of
buses due to the cutting of
expenditure since 2010 — 49
per cent of its bus service
funding has gone.
"The main thing is to get
the council to not cut the
buses completely and to get
the community more in-
volved in the decisions that
they are taking.
“One thing I have said is
that I personally believe

Meanwhile. Herefordshire

the integrated rail and bus
services which it believes
the county deserves.
Responding to a rail fran~
chise consultation for the
West Midlands, Hereford-
shire Green Party has said
public transport services
in the region are “under

erally of poor quality and
do not reach the quality
standards that are the norm
for rural public transport in
