wide range of Post Office services
during our extended opening
hours e 14 hours a week more
than previously offered.“
As the traditional banking net—
work declines, customers for the
majority (99 per cent) of UK
banks can use their post office for
online banking cash deposits and
withdrawals and bill payments.
The Post Office will need to close
at 12.30pm on February 6 while
the refurbishment takes place.
during this time the retail store
will remain open. During this
short period Post Office services
may be accessed from any conven-
ient Post Office branch including:
Bucknell Post Office, Bucknell,
SY? 0AA.
Sue Whittall Post Office area
manager said: “We are making it
easier for customers to get their
cash, send and collect their mail
and do their banking because we
know how important these servic-
es are to local residents.
She added: “We are confident that
this vibrant new—style Post Office
at the heart of the community
will meet customer needs. This
modernisation is part of a major
investment programme, the larg—
est iii the history of the Post
Office and will secure services for
the future. The investment marks
a commitment to no more branch
closure programmes."
KNIGHTON AND DISTRICT
ROTARY CLUB — We enjoyed
December as we spent time with
Rotary friends as well as raised
money to support our local com»
munities. We were proud to
donate F renchvEnglish dictionar-
ies to the primary school children
who had accompanied the
Presteigne and Norton Twinning
Association on their educational
trip to Ligne in France. We also
donated money to help provide a
Christmas lunch, in the middle of
the month, to the elderly of
Knighton. On December 11 and 12
we held a collection in Knighton
and Presteigne for the Wales and
the Midland Air Ambulances as
well as for KINDA ( Knighton
Initiative for Dementia
Awareness ) and Presteigne and
Norton Community Support.
Over £400 was raised and we
thank those who supported us at
such a busy time of year. And
finally we have signed up to Give
As You Live so that free donations
made by shopping online which
will help support our charitable
efforts — you can find out more on
the fundraising page of our web-
site.
