Shock for
driver as
keys stolen
in lgnlthn
A MAN jumped on a car
bonnet and took the keys
out of the ignition of the ve-
hicle after the driver asked
him to move his car which
was blocking the road.
The incident happened
on Christmas Eve between
ltlam and 10.30am when the
victim e a man in his late
GUS — was leaving the Tesco
car park in Bewell Street.
Hereford. and found a \‘ehir
cle blocking his route.
He told police he asked the
driver to more who then
started to shout abuse at
him.
The victim said he man-
aged to get past the ob-
structing vehicle and can
ried on down the slip road
towards Newmarket Street.
But. as he stopped at the
traffic lights. the driver
of the obstructing vehicle
jumped onto his car's bon<
net and then opened his
side door before taking the
key from the ignition.
The victim. however. had
a spare key and was able to
drive away.
Officers are eager to hear
from anyone that witnessed
the incident
They should call the police
on 101.

A COUNTY councillor said
it was “terrifying" to drive
on some of the county's
roads because of the lack of
road markings.
At the most recent meeting
of the full council, Cllr Alan
Seldon supported a motion
to review the process in fix-
ing urgent problems on the
county’s roads.
He said: “Last Saturday
night I had the occasion to
drive to Leominster from
Bromyard at night in the
rain and quite frankly at
times it was terrifying.
“Because all of a sudden
in the Bredenbury area the
road markings disappeared.
Those that are less able than
I would find it terrifying.
Councillor Nigel Shaw pro-
posed the motion to change

be flexible in attending to
safety related warnings and
severely worn markings.
He said the council should
reconsider this process in
view of road markings and
treatment outside such 10-
cations as schools.
And in such circumstances
a request by a parish coun-
cil, headmaster or emergen-
cy services officer through
the ward councillor should
be prioritised and complet-
ed within three months.
Cllr Paul Rone, cabinet
member for transport and
roads, said there are budget
restrictions and councillors
will still need to go through
the proper and correct traf-
fiC regulation order process
but the council did vote in
favour of the motion.
