A CHARITY shop in Ross—
on-Wye has received a do-
nation of a different kind.
A Yamaha organ is now
for sale in the Scope shop
in Market Place for £80.
Shop manager Erica Pol-
lard said they are grateful
to receive many donations
but the organ proved to be
more unique than most.
James and Elaine Weath-
erhead were the original
owners who first handed
the organ to Ross Court
residential home.
However. due to a recent
refurbishment it is no long—
er required at the home,
and was later given to Ross
Baptist Church before be-
ing donated to the charitj.
7 which helps people with
disabilities.
The Scope shop in Her-
eford closed recently but
staff at the Ross shop want-
ed people to know they can
still come to the market
town.
And, when someone do-
nates a bag of clothes at the
Ross shop. the}; \t'ill be git-
en a raffle ticket. The raffle
will be held at the end of
January and the '.'.'inner
will get a prize from The
Royal Hotel in Ross.

A VILLAGER has penned
a poem to motorists ask-
ing them to slow down as
part of their New Year’s
resolutions.
Susan Warne, who lives
in Winforton on the A438,
wants to warn drivers to
monitor their speed be-
fore an accident happens.
A portable traffic indica-
tor checks the speed of
cars passing through the
40 miles per hour speed
limit in the village.
Mrs Warne said one vehi-
cle was clocked travelling
85 miles per hour through
the residential area, lead-
ing to her writing Winfor—
ton Whizzers.
It states: “We’d like to
cross the road, perhaps to
use the pub.
“We shouldn’t have to
run across just to get our
grub!
“When exiting our drive-
ways our sight lines are
obscured.
“Why does the traffic fly
at us, cannot their speed
be cured?
“The worst thing is the
thoughtlessness, when
walking in the rain
they’re splashing through
the puddles and drench-
ing us again.
“So make a resolution to
keep within the law, for we
don’t want a road traffic
accident and all that blood
and gore!”

the village for 14 years but
says that an increased use
of internet shopping has
led to more lorries travel-
ling on the main road.
She said: “For years and
years drivers have been
coming through our village
with a lack of awareness.
“With the rise of inter-
net shopping and 24-hour
deliveries there is more
traffic on the road and it’s
more hazardous.
“We have had one or two
accidents lately in the Vil-
lage on top of the fatal col-
lisions at Willersley and
Whitney-on-Wye.
“If people came through
at a calmer speed they
could then appreciate the
12 black and white listed
buildings in the village and
the lovely walk we have to
the river.
“Rather than complain-
ing we hoped a poem would
make people take more
care of our little commu-
nity.
“I recently saw a lady
driving while cleaning her
teeth and its while being
distracted when driving
that accidents happen."
