Store cattie — 144: An excellent entry
for the TB sale and a very good
trade. The buyers who came to do
business. A lot of cattle would be just
as much money as in the clean
sales. Prices were as follows -

Finished cattle — 330: A similar trade.
All our buyers are complaining of a
lack of shop demand. Plenty of meat
coming in from abroad. One or two
men not present on Monday but two
extra buyers to keep the team as it
should be. A shortage of bulls if you
consider what’s being paid else-
where and what our prices have
been. Prices were as follows:-
Medium steers: Best quality to
1950p average 1932:); Standard
quality to 182.0p average 180.6p.
Also rans to 174.5p; overall average
181 .5p.
Heavy steers: Best quality to 204.5p
average 193.5p; Standard quality to
187.5p average 182.6p. Also rans to
176.5p; overall average 184.7p.
Medium heifers: Best quality to
216.0p average 207.5p; Standard
quality to 186.5p average 181.0p.
Also rans to 174.5p; overall average
180.6p
Heavy heifers: Best quality to 236.0p
average 205.6p; Standard quality to
189.5p average 182.5p. Also rans to

Light bulls: To 156.0p average

Barren cows and old bulls — 76: A
good trade. It is certainly a case at
present of meat at a price and there-
fore the manufacturing meat is hold—
ing its trade better than the better
sorts. Prices were as follows:-

Cull ewes : A slightly easier trade all
round with fat ewes and smallish
ewes taking the largest hit Large
lean, well meated ewes still a good
trade. No best sorts about with a
trade topping at £97.50 and to overall
average £62.25. Rams to £93.50
average £77.01.
