Beadle: Referee made right call Pete Beadle agreed with the decision to abandon the game at half-time “He has played 27, 28 games on the trot for a big club and with that, not only comes the physical side, but the emotional side too. “And I think the first time last week, it took its toll and he looked tired. “We’ve got more than capable players sat wait- ing and they make my job tough because they’re all doing so well.” Mike Symons scored Hereford’s third goal against Leicester Nirvana shortly before half-time, but the strike will now be chalked off ymons frustrated ut set for rematch HEREFORD FC striker Mike Symons said see- ing the ball get stuck in the mud prior to his goal against Leicester Nirvana probably made referee Rob- bie Dadley’s mind up to abandon the game. The Bulls were 31 up in the FA Vase fourth round tie, with Symons’ goal coming shortly before the break. The two sides will square off again this Saturday, meaning Hereford’s away league game at Sporting Khalsa has been postponed. “It always puts a seed in the referee’s mind when the ball stops and obviously the conditions deteriorated during the first half," said Symons. "Before the game. I think he was questioning it, so that probably made his de- cision easier and he decid~ ed to call it off. “I think my goal gets chalked off now because the game was abandoned. “I think it’s the first time that the ball has stopped and I‘ve had to follow my own shot in. “It’s frustrating from our point of View because it l T By Paul Rogers @1432 845871 pro 6' herefordtimescom Twitter C'Ij‘HTnewsroom was 3-1 and we would be shooting towards our fans in the second half. “But hopefully, in the re— match, we can start as we did and get a positive re- sult.“ Symons said the standing water on the side on the pitch made it difficult. “It was a bit wet, so when you’re dribbling, the ball would get a bit stuck, but it’s one of those decisions — if you’re winning, you want to keep playing, if you’re losing, then you’re going to be jumping on the referee’s back to call it of said Symons. The 45 minutes that were The waterlogged pitch played were highly enter- taining, with both sides playing attacking football, despite the conditions. “I thought, as a team, we attacked well and were sol- id,” added Symons. “We scored three goals, but the keeper pulled off two good saves from one-on- one situations, so potential- ly it could have been more.” Hereford were the bet- ter side in the early stages of the game and were re- warded in the 19th minute when a foul by Shaquille O’Neil Brooks on Mustapha Bundu led to Dadley point ing to the spot. John Mills duly dispatched the ball home, but a minute later, a penalty was awarded at the other end. This time, it was Bundu who committed the foul, but Martin Horsell comfort- ably saved Matthew Mel- bourne’s weak effort. But the away side did level after 28 minutes. Tendai Chitiza, who posed a constant threat to the Hereford back-line, broke away and scored from a tight angle. Nirvana then almost went in front, but saw Chitiza's effort come back off the bar before Hereford scored moments later thanks to an excellent strike from Dylan Bonella. The Bulls midfielder, who earlier tested Nirvana goalkeeper James Flinders with a volley from the edge of the box, smashed a near identical effort home. And Hereford opened up a two—goal cushion on the stroke of half-time thanks to Symons. But, with the rain coming down hard, Dadley had no choice but to abandon the game.
