Edwards confirms double player exit
\VES’l‘FlELDS manager
Sean Edwards has con
firmed that Marcus Palmer
and Dean Lee have both left
the club.
Both play eis neie on the
bench for \iestfie lds last
game against Her etor (1
“Marcus needs to get
games at the moment and
has left the club to try and
find a football club and get
his match fitness up.“ said
Edwards.
"He is still signed for
Westlields. as is Dean Lee.
‘ WESTFIELDS
who was disappointed to be
on the bench against Her-
eford.
"To be fair to him. he has
been playing quite well
lately. but was not prepared
to tight for his place."
Edwards added that his
side need to have a much
better second half to the
season after finding them~
selves precariously close
to the Midland Football
League Premier Division
drop zone. This Saturday,
Westtields travel to fourth-
placed Sporting Khalsa.
“The league is as strong
as it’s ever been, but 1 ex-
pected us to be much high-
er up,” said Edwards, who
has brought in Andy Bevan
from West Bromwich Albi-
on‘s academy to help with
training sessions.
“Maybe that was down to
bad decisions on my part in
terms of recruitment.
“Players have left instead
of fighting for their place,
but that happens in foot-
ball. What we are left with
are players whom you want
to go to battle with.”
Meanwhile, Westfields
have received £3,555 in
funding as part of the Sport
Grants Programme.
“Our funding has gone
to pay for new portable
training goals with roll-on/
roll-off facility and nets to-
gether with new training
equipment and kit aimed at
supporting increased par-
ticipation at Westfields FC
in the 14-25 age group," said
Wesh‘ields chief executive
Andy Morris.

PREDICTIONS
WESTFIELDS midfielder
Craig Jones hopes Hereford
FC don’t Win any trophies
this season.
The admission comes as
the Hereford Times can
reveal what some of our
county sporting person-
alities believe will happen
this year.
Hereford are still in four
competitions, but chair-
man Jon Hale feels they
will win just two.
Midfielder Rob Purdie
also thinks the Bulls will
get their hands on two
trophies, while PR officer
Jamie Griffiths says that,
even though it would be
great if all four cups were
snapped up, the league is
the priority.
Westfields chief executive
Andy Morris also thinks
Hereford will win two,
while Wellington manager
Derek Williams is more op-
timistic, believing the Bulls
will win three.
Last year, Herefordshire
Sport secretary Bryan
White and Matt Ferriday,
who was in charge of H01-
me Lacy FC, correctly an-
swered three questions.
They both predicted West-
fields would finish eighth
in the Midland Football
League Premier Division,
that New Zealand would
win the IRB Rugby World
Cup and that Australia
would get their hands on
the ICC Cricket World Cup.
A total of 18 people
were asked to gaze into the
crystal ball. See Sport 03.
