Caroline Jane Symonds, 40, of Chequers Close, Three Elms. Hereford, admitted drink driving on the Belmont Road. Clare Lineham, prosecuting at Hereford Magistrates Court last Thursday, said police received reports at 6pm on New Years Day of a car veering over the road. The vehicle was stopped and offia ers said her six—year—old son was also inside the vehicle. “Symonds said she was just really tired and had driven four hours back from Barry," said Mrs Lineham. Police smelt alcohol on the defend— ant who said she had been drinking the previous evening and had also had a glass of wine that afternoon. Symonds had been previousty banned from driving for 12 months tol- lowing a similar incident in 2012. Chris Morgan, mitigating, said that Symonds had already lost her job fol- lowing the arrest. He added: “it was a relatively low reading given She has completed a drink driving rehabilitation course pre— viously and would like to again." Magistrates ordered Symonds to pay a £120 fine, a £20 victim sur- charge and 2135 costs. She was also disqualified from driv- ing for three years.
