herefordtimescom Thursday, January 28, 2016 THE HEREFORD TIMES Cafe Will help to spread kindness By Jessica Phillips 01432 845884 jphir’t‘herefordtimescom Twitter Ni'H‘l‘newsroom A HEREFORD cafe has signed up to an initiative which aims to support the more vulner- able members of the commu- nity. Number 10, on Church Street, is part of the ‘suspended cof- fee’ scheme which sees cus- tomers pay in advance for an extra drink, sandwich or soup for someone who needs it. It is a global initiative which has proven popular in some of the bigger cities and aims to spread kindness. Hayley Llewellyn, owner of Number 10, used to work in the homeless sector and was happy to back the scheme. She said: “People just come in and if they have tea and cof- fee they will pay for an extra drink and that is then used for someone in need. “We have quite a lot of people who will buy an extra soup or sandwich too. Or some people will put £10 in the kitty. “We have a couple of guys i\' ‘ v“ the suspended coffee scheme. that come regularly who we have outside the window and we take them out whatever they need. It’s quite a relaxed set up." Those in need in Hereford benefit directly from the scheme, with no middle man Hayley Llewellyn, the owner of Number 10, with a notice about Photo: James Maggs “I think it’s a nice thing to do.” added Ms Llewellyn. “And it’s important to me that we do it. There‘s a lot of people that probably do want to help or feel self conscious going up to someone and asking if they want a coffee. It makes it really 4/.
