The CLERK read a letter from the Ponte- fraot Union enclosing a resolution passed by that Board in reference to the raising of the war tax . The resolution suggested that money provided for the provision of depen- dents of men who were killed during the war should be raised through a tax on all incomes cver 30s . per week . After the Clerk had read the wording of the advertise nent it was resolved that they should advertise for a fully qualified nurse , in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Board , and that appli- cants should state previous experience and the salary they would require . A circular was read from the Local Gov- ernment Board requesting that the Guar- dians attention should be called to certain observations and suggestions in regard to the giving of relief to widows with children . COUNTY SURVEYOR AND ROAD CONTRACTORS . LLANGARRON WATER SCHEME . IMPORTANT REPORT . OCTOBER 22 , 1914 . roads in How Caple , and asked if there was any by - law affecting the use of such screens . The CHAIRMAN said there was , no bye- law , but that the men were provided with screens , and that it was their duty to use them . Capt . SYMONS said some of the men complained that they had got no screens . Mr. MURDOCH said he knew in some cases that the men had the screens , but that they were thrown under the hedges and not used . Mr. LEWIS said the men were instructed to use the screens , but the Council only al- lowed one screen for each parish , which was not really enough . The HAIRMAN said it was the duty of the Surveyor to apply for more screens if they were required . Perhaps the Surveyors would give this matter their attention , and see that the screens were used now that Capt . Symons has called attention to it . FINANCE REPORT . Mr. MURDOCH gave the Finance report , which showed a balance at the bank of £ 2,008 9s . 9d . , less unpresented cheque of £ 1 10s . , leaving £ 2,006 19s . 9d .
