Tuesday of last week . The church had been Re Space . I am instructed to give you very tastefully decorated by willing hande , notice that it is the intention of this Conn- plenteous supply of fruit , vegetables , and cil to give up possession of this space on the flowers being given by generous parishioners . At the afternoon service there was a crowded 31st May , 1915 , which they hold as yearly congregation . The sermon was preached by tenants under an Agreement dated the 13th the Ven . On Monday night a meeting of the members of the Men's Club was held , the Vicar , Rev. R. A. Lyne , presiding . There were present Messrs . It was decided to discontinue the games competition this win- ter , as owing to the lack of interest in the various games last year very few of the com- petitions were completed . The Air - Gun Club will be carried on as usual , Mr. W. J. Teague being re - elected captain , and Mr. W. A. Smallman was elected hon . secretary vice Mr. W. H. Ross , Thursday .. LICENSEE CONVICTED . - At the last Coleford Patty Sessions , Josiah Tooze was summoned by P.C. White for permitting drunkenness on his licensed premises , the Sawyers ' Arms Inn , Lydbrook , on August 27th . Mr. J. C. Gilmore , solicitor to the Lawford's Gate ( Bristol ) Licensed Victuallers Association , appeared for defendant , who pleaded not guilty . - P.C . White stated that he visited the inn on August 27th , and found a man , George Edwards , sitting in the public kitchen with half a - pint of beer in front of him . Witness walked to the front door , and Edwards staggered after him . When ques- Messrs . Cooper and Preece were again tioned by witness Mrs. Tooze said the man favoured with a good supply of stock for the had only been in the house a few minutes , Ross Stock Market , including several cows and had been served with one half pint of and calves , making up to £ 18 158 .; also beer . Witness then fold her that Edwards several stores which made up to £ 12 5s . The must have been drunk when he came in . fat cattle were a very nice lot . W. W. HALLS . TO THE EDITOR OF THE Ross Gazette . SIR , I should be greatly obliged if you would kindly insert this letter in your paper for the help and comfort it may be to the now in training . It is known that my brother died somewhat suddenly in hospital at Alder- shot of double pneumonia and bronchitis . I found on my visit to Aldershot on Thursday , that everything possible had been done to comfort him in camp , and on his removal to the hospital ; and I am certain that no one could have done more than the authorities did for him . Unfortunately it was of no avail . Everyone was so kind and considerate that I left Aldershot with the feeling that Aldershot , especially the men of Ross , who attended the On Thursday last , Messrs . At a general meeting of the Ross Skittle League , held at the New Inn last week , it was unanimously decided to postpone the league matches until the new year , owing to the grave national crisis through which the country is now passing .
