PRIMROSE LEAGUE GATHERING . The Forest Oak Habitation of the Primrose League held their annual fete in the beautiful grounds of the Manor House on Thursday afternoon . The attendance was quite up to the average , and the weather being fine , tea was enjoyed under the trees . Games and variety entertainments were very much ap- preciated . The following were the per- formers : Miss Bruton , Miss Stephens , Messrs . Tillard , Heelas , Abbott , and Ord Adams ( violin ) . The habitation now numbers over 300 members , having added upwards of 20 during the last week . During the afternoon the company was addressed upon current politics by Mr. J. G. Thornton , of Bath , and Col. Noel , of Newent . Mr. Colin MacIver was unfortunately unavoidably absent . Music was provided by the Cinderford Prize Silver Band , and dancing was much enjoyed on the lawns . Votes of thanks were accorded the speakers , and Mrs. Jones Williams for the use of the grounds , which were again il- luminated with fairy , lamps and Chinese

Prologue .
In this space and under the above heading I propose to deal with mat- ters of seasonable interest . There will be notes on toilet goods , simple home remedies , invalid comforts , agricultural requirements , photo-
graphy , optics , sight - testing , and the modern fitting of spectacles and eye- glasses : and other items incidental to a high - class Pharmacy of to - day . Admittedly it is to be an advertise- ment which I shall endeavour to make interesting by avoiding extra- vagant statements , and by telling what I wish to say simply and sincerely .
Gnat Bites .
We are asked for all sorts and con- ditions of remedies : Quassia , Oils off Lavender , Sassafras , etc .. but there is none as efficient as Mosketone . " It has the double advantage of allaying any irrita tion if you get bitten , and as insects simply loathe it , it confers a con- siderable degree of immunity on the user . We have now put up a 6d . bottle , as well as the 1s .

A remarkable performance in Saturday's cricket , says Lloyd's , was the bowling of Drake , who , in taking five wickets for six runs in three overs , brought about the single inn- ings defeat of Derbyshire , after they had been but 88 runs behind with nine wickets in hand .
